Of Birthdays and rainbows around the sun...

It’s been more than two weeks since my last post; wonder if anyone noticed…

Well my adoring public (Yes all two of you, or one of you… err... if any…) I’m back. Well not really good news is it? I originally wanted this blog to be solely devoted to showcasing my brand of bad poetry and terrible story telling to the world. Since I haven’t posted anything in a while I might as well post something. Never wanted to post anything about what’s going on with my life it’ll just be shameless whining and ranting. I wanted to save that for another more private blog; but doesn’t look like its happening so I might change my mind a bit about this blog…

Well what has been going on with me; it was my birthday last week-ish. Almost forgot about it until I got a text message from a friend. The only friend to actually wish me Happy Birthday. Good to know I’m not completely forgotten. I’m getting older and none the wiser but oh well… Coincidently it going to be his birthday tomorrow; so a BIG HUGE shoutout to my friend “Happy Birthday!!!!”.

Some interesting stuff happened lately there was this cool thing that happened to the Sun here in Kuching on a Friday afternoon. Looked like a rainbow ring or halo was surrounding it. A natural phenomenon but don’t it look cool. Too bad it hurts just to look at it; staring at the sun after all.

I got to listen to the Smashing Pumpkins new single Tarantula not too many days ago. I think it sounds pretty good. Has a lot of that old school Smashing Pumpkins feel to it. Billy Corgan’s efforts after the first breakup were kinda disappointing for me. Zwan was ok but so very short lived. Sure Paz was there but the band just didn’t last long enough. Billy’s solo effort TheFutureEmbrace was just not something I liked; and I actually bought the CD too. Never thought I would regret it but I did. Hopefully the Pumpkins new album Zeitgeist will be ok.

Speaking of high hopes the Stardust Movie is coming out soon. Saw the trailer and I have to say it looks promising. The story will be based on a book of the same title by one of my favorite authors Neil Gaiman. To bad I haven’t read Stardust yet; it’s just damn hard to find his books here in Kuching. Come to think of it, I’m wondering whether the movie will even come here to Malaysia. I guess I can hope; in any case I think it should be good movie; almost everything he wrote that I’ve been able to put my hands on has not been disappointing. I just need to get my hands on the book first. Maybe I can sell my soul for it? The Devil will probably laugh…

On the subject of movies; the Transformers movie will be opening in local cinemas in a couple of days. Kind of apprehensive about how that will turn out; after watching the trailer it just doesn’t feel like it’s going to be like the transformers that I grew up watching. The movie transformers seems like too much Bling and Terminator-esque But I guess that’s just me dwelling in the past the movie itself might not be so bad…

Found an interesting site too; Cats That Look Like Hitler. Nice site, like what they are doing for the cats. Finding homes for them and all. All of that and being cute and funny at the same time. To bad some think the site is offensive because it references to Hitler. Oh some of the cats do look like him; though one i found looked suspiciously like Salvador Dali hehehe...

Hmm I guess that’s all for this post… there goes another uneventful entry in this dry blog of mine but oh well…

Firefoxing

Just a quick one; so everybody can be glad. There's a survey on the usage of browsers (particularly Firefox) out there. It's basically trying to study the competitiveness of Firefox. You can read about on this page and take the survey.

Why am I doing this? I don't know, I just like Firefox...

My first post, because someone asked for it

Well, well, well… I started a blog. A friend of mine asked for it, well I guess he got his wish. He said I should write stuff and start a blog or something. I was kinda reluctant really because I’ve got nothing smart to say. If I write what’s on my mind I’ll sound like some kind of whiny loser (which I already am but there’s no need to stress the point…) so I’ll leave that for another blog eh? Who would want to take a peek into my mind? So I guess I write really dumb stuff and post it. I’ll try being an attention whore for a while muahahahah…

Well here’s an idea that has been in my head since high school… err… secondary school. Felt like a good idea way back when but since I already wrote it down it does look like rubbish LOL. Oh well feel free to ridicule and criticize this one, it’s a long and boring one. I got the idea for it from some flavor text of some Magic: the Gathering Cards.

He suggested that I write something about unrequited love or something since I “seem” to have a “familiarity” with the subject. I’ll write about an impossible love instead. In case if anybody is wondering (I’m wondering if anybody will actually read this…hahaha…) who that friend is I’ll keep it a secret. Might save him some trouble…

My friend If you are reading this is what you asked for (almost)…

So I guess I’m ready to make a fool of myself. So here it is

Love Song of Day and Night

Morning creeps in slowly and is greeted by Dawn
With soft golden light and the rising of the Sun
The warmth of the greeting stirs Life from slumber
Awakened from rest, in Night’s soothing embrace
The birds sing a chorus, for the joy that is Life
Who rises up slowly to greet the glorious Morn
The beauty of Dawn and the glory of the Sun
They become one in that sheer moment of joy
The fading of dark thus the coming of light
The blissful of moments, the coming of Day

Day has been longing to come to the Night
Night has been waiting for the coming of Day
Reaching out for Night, Day extends its warmth
Day moves in closer, they prepare to embrace
But as Day nears, Night becomes more distant
Moving further and further, starting to fade
Desperate Day tries, but can’t move any faster
And hopeless is Night, strength fading away
Still the closer Day gets Night slips further away
Disappearing at the very moment they embrace

Now Day at his fullest feels so empty and so lost
Basking in warmth yet feeling cold and alone
Day watches the Sun selfless, spreading its warmth
Make a journey across the sky from east to west
Slowly tiring he fades from gold into scarlet
Till Evening she comes and beckons him to rest
He falls slowly and is greeted by the Ocean
They kiss and he’s lost in her loving embrace
Day he watches and is touched by the moment
As is Night who appears with the coming of Dusk

Day has been waiting for the coming of Night
And Day has been waiting for Night to arrive
Reaching out for Day, Night extends her arms
Night moves in closer, they prepare to embrace
But as Night nears, Day becomes more distant
Moving further and further, starting to fade
Desperate she tries but can’t move any faster
And hopeless is Day, strength fading away
Still the closer Night gets Day slips further away
Disappearing at the very moment they embrace

Surrounded by darkness Night feels cold and alone
Without the warmth of day her unhappiness looms
The stars they watch her, they witness her pain
The moon she comforts her, giving her light
As she is soothed she comforts others with her touch
Lulls a tired Life to sleep in her blissful embrace
Watching Life in her arms asleep, it calms her
Like a mother she feels with her child in her arms
She waits for Dawn to come, Morning to wake him
And waits to be comforted by the coming of day
